Guest speakers:
- Dr Roger Vargas from the United States Department of Agriculture (Hawaii). Dr Vargas has rolled out a very successful AWM program in Hawaii incorporating Sterile Insect Technology (SIT) and spanning five islands against four species of fruit fly (Melon, Mediterranean, Oriental and Solanaceous fruit fly).
- Dr Olivia Reynolds from the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University. Dr Reynolds is a Senior Research Scientist addressing the linkages between how a successful AWM program can roll into a successful SIT program.
- Research entomologist David Williams from Victoria’s Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) will also present.
Joining these speakers for a panel discussion will be leading agronomists Sam Beggs and Russel Fox from IK Caldwell, Chris Pollard from SPC Ardmona, David Moore the General Manager for Research, Marketing and Investments at Hort Innovation and fruit grower Peter Hall, who is also on the QFF Taskforce.
