Additional $160 million for fire-affected communities
- On Friday 30 January 2026, the State and Commonwealth Governments announced an additional $160 million in support to help families, businesses and primary producers.
- This includes funding for:

- Clean-up support for homes, structures and community assets
- Recovery support to help people access government programs and services
- Advice and financial counselling small business owners
- Accelerating the re-build of the Harcourt Cooperative Cool Store facility
- Rebates to rural households for cleaning and decontaminating rain water tanks, roofs and gutters
- Additional mental health and wellbeing support for adults and young people

Field and industry response
- Our Agriculture Victoria teams are continuing with livestock, crop and horticulture assessments, contacting landholders to identify urgent needs, prioritising high risk properties, coordinating referrals for welfare, fodder and technical support, and assessing impacts on agricultural and horticultural industries.

Advice and engagement on farm recovery
- Following a bushfire there is a lot to consider when it comes to caring for livestock, crops and getting farms back on track.
- To support farmers and landholders affected by the fires, Agriculture Victoria staff are attending recovery pop-up events and working with industry to share technical advice including on:

- recovery of pastures
- managing and protecting farm water supplies
- re-fencing
- food safety.

Advice for grant and loan applications
- Two targeted fire recovery programs are providing financial support to farmers – the Primary Producer Bushfire Recovery Grants, and the Primary Producer Bushfire Recovery Concessional Loans.
- It’s important that farmers don’t self-assess their eligibility – advice on eligibility is available from Rural Finance at https://www.ruralfinance.com.au/ or call 1800 260 425.
Mental health and wellbeing supports for farmers
- We are aware of the wellbeing and mental health impacts across rural communities, especially in areas dealing with successive fire, drought and flood events over past years.
- Specialist wellbeing support is available now to farmers and their communities affected by the fires through the Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS) and via phone on 1300 771 741.
- There is also funding available now to run events and activities that support mental health and wellbeing of farmers and farming communities, through the Look Over the Farm Gate program.
Stock losses
- As we continue to assess agricultural losses, estimates of total impacts are being published on our website.
- These figures are updated twice-weekly and include livestock impacts as well as crops, machinery, fencing, infrastructure, and water.

Ag Vic / VFF Emergency fodder program continues
- Enormous efforts and generosity by individuals, communities and industry have seen millions of dollars’ worth of fodder pass through multiple fodder depots and delivery services over the past weeks, delivering urgently needed stock feed across the fire impacted regions.
- The Victorian Government’s Emergency Fodder Support Program remains open to coordinate delivery of fodder to fire-affected farms. Farmers can request fodder by contacting the Victorian Farmers Federation on 1300 882 833 or emailing
