On Tuesday 24th January Fruit Growers Victoria hosted a visit from visiting Japanese Industry Development Officer Nobuyuki Kadowaki and interpreter Susumu Kodayashi.
His visit to the Goulburn Valley was to discuss the pear industry in Australia and forge stronger ties with Fruit Growers Victoria and members.
Grower and packer Peter Radevski was involved in the discussions and gave firsthand information regarding picking, packing and marketing of pears in Australia. The discussion also covered Australia pear exports and Research and Development projects in Australia.
Whilst in the Goulburn Valley Mr Kadowaki also visited Seeka Australia to personally view an Australian orchard. The visit to the Goulburn Valley concluded with attendance at the GV Emerging Leaders Group meeting held at the McNab orchard. Having left Japan 12 hours previously, where the temperature was zero degrees, attending a BBQ in the Australian summer was a new experience. Attendance at the BBQ enabled Mr Kadowaki to further discuss issues with growers and industry experts who attended.
Fruit Growers Victoria would like to thank Peter Radevski, Ryan Donovan and Mitchell McNab for their part in this successful visit to the Goulburn Valley.
