The Irrigation Optimisation Workshop, held on Thursday, 13 November, was an engaging and highly successful session that brought growers together for practical learning and meaningful discussion. Facilitated by Charles Thompson from RMCG, the workshop delivered clear, actionable insights to help participants improve irrigation efficiency and strengthen water management strategies for the season ahead.
Throughout the hands-on session, attendees explored how to:
- Build an effective water budget using current allocations and market conditions
- Manage water shortfalls and evaluate cost-efficient response options
- Maximise value per megalitre through smarter irrigation practices
- Better understand soil moisture, block variability, and crop/tree water requirements
- Use Irrisat and other monitoring tools to track and improve on-farm water use
Running for two hours at the FGV Office in Shepparton, the workshop featured lively discussion, practical examples, and real-world scenarios that helped participants deepen their knowledge and confidence.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the positive, collaborative atmosphere. Your engagement made the session truly valuable. We look forward to supporting you at future workshops and continuing to build stronger water management practices across the region.
