Improving Water Use Efficiency in Orchards – Workshop Recap

The Improving Water Use Efficiency in Orchards workshop held on 17 July at Tatura Smart Farm brought together over 20 participants for an engaging and hands-on session focused on enhancing irrigation practices through the use of soil moisture sensor technology.
Nick O’Halloran, Senior Irrigation Officer at Agriculture Victoria, delivered an informative presentation covering soil moisture sensor technology and best practices for irrigation scheduling, which sparked thoughtful discussion among participants.
The workshop also featured a field walk led by Dr Mark O'Connell from the Agriculture Victoria Research team, providing a valuable opportunity to see the technology and concepts applied in a real-world orchard setting.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a successful event!
This workshop was supported by the Goulburn Broken CMA through funding from the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments under the Future Drought Fund.
