The unusually high number of Qfly captures during April and May in 2021 have fallen to low levels from late May, through June and into July (Figs 1 and 2). Qfly numbers are now no higher than last year. Temperatures dropped significantly (e.g. in Kyabram, Fig. 3) after the 25th of May. The main reason for this drop in capture rates is the weather. It is too cold for male Qfly to be able to respond to the lures inside the traps. In fact, in many places it is too cold for Qfly to fly at all.
