Robert Green is a fourth generation grower at Oakleigh Orchards in Lenswood, South Australia (est 1893), personally growing apples for 40 years with a family history of 130 years.
Robert’s focus has been efficiency and productivity and has achieved extraordinary yields and grown a high percentage of his crop to the highest quality.
Innovation and design are a key part of the day to day running of the orchard with Robert developing his own scheduling control system for the drip irrigation and fertigation setups and the development of engineering solutions such as picking and pruning platforms and a root ripper for vigour control in the orchard.
Robert has been the recipient of a number of awards over the years including:
• Australian Apple Grower of the Year 2012
• Australian Horticulturist of the Year 2014
• ABC Rural and Kondinin Group's Australian Farmer of the Year 2014
