Orchard Nutrition Workshop
Fruit Growers Victoria, under the Orchard Action Project – Co Production of Knowledge to Victorian Pome Fruit Orchardists, held an Orchard Nutrition Workshop on Thursday 8th of September 2016 at the Comfort Inn Peppermill, Shepparton. Despite the fact that most of the growers were busy with pruning, spraying and other preparations for coming season, the meeting was well attended.
At a previous meeting, held a month ago, other topics such as IPM, water allocation and education were covered. Following discussion with growers, it was realized that nutrition and fertilization was one of the elements of fruit production that needed to be covered as well. Therefore, Fruit Growers Victoria approached Owen McCarron and organized the Orchard Nutrition Workshop.
Owen McCarron is an expert in fertilization and owner of conNEXUS Global. Before starting his own business, Owen was working for 10 years with Australia’s leading manufacturer and supplier of speciality liquid fertilisers.
Owen’s presentation covered different segments of nutrition, soil chemistry, plant physiology and different recommendations in regards to efficient fertilization.
The meeting was followed by dinner and discussion with the guest speaker.
