Fruit Growers Victoria Ltd (FGV), in partnership with Cobram & District Fruit Growers’ Association and Greater Shepparton City Council, will deliver “Pick Goulburn Valley”, a marketing campaign designed to bring Australian based workers to the Goulburn Valley to undertake seasonal work for the 2021/2022 harvest season. Integral to this campaign are:
- an advertising campaign regarding seasonal work availability and expectations,
- an online registration platform for growers and seasonal workers to facilitate easy matching of available workers and work opportunities,
- and a Horticulture Learning portal to enable workers’ training to be tracked and recorded.
The advertising campaign is expected to roll out from Victoria to the rest of Australia as the seasonal worker need increases through the harvest season. Completion date of the Pick Goulburn Valley project is 30 May 2022
The project is expected to increase awareness of careers in Horticulture and the continued need for a seasonal workforce. The project will assist with the development of a horticulture learning portal where seasonal worker and employers can record OH&S, inductions and relevant experience which will enable a greater transferability and recognition of worker skills.
