Fruit fly numbers – regional trapping grid
Regional trapping grid data shows the number of Queensland Fruit Fly (Qfly) trapped in late October in the Goulburn Murray Valley (GMV) is currently in decline. As of late October, most trappings were in urban (41 flies) and peri-urban locations (3 flies), when compared with rural areas (13 flies).
Fruit fly trappings typically rise dramatically every year in September and October from the winter, when very few flies are trapped. Numbers peak in spring, which is known as the spring peak, and then go into decline in late October and through November only to rise again, to a higher level after that as the summer peak.
