Agriculture Victoria has detected a brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) in a trap in Clayton. This insect is exotic to Australia and potentially poses a risk to growers because it feeds on vegetable crops, fruit, tree nuts and ornamental trees.
Agriculture Victoria biosecurity officers are conducting surveillance and trapping to determine if there are any other BMSB, with the aim of preventing establishment of the bug.
