INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
CONTRACT POSITION – DECIDUOUS FRUIT INDUSTRIES
• Part time position (0.6 FTE)
• Flexible hours within pre-determined commitments
Based in Victoria, a major component of the position is involvement in the Horticulture Industry Network program and other projects as they arise.
The position reports to the Industry Development Manager.
The key responsibilities include:
• Making routine and casual on-farm visits to growers & clients
• Facilitating Technology Transfer
• Working with electronic media and applications
• Managing Entomology Focus (Grub) Groups
• Preparing technical articles for publications
• Maintaining the FGVL Technical library.
• Prepare Annual Work Plan
• Organise Grower Meetings, including annual Season in Review.
• Participate in the Horticulture Industry Network
• Facilitation of Young Grower Groups
• Organise study tours
• Providing general agronomic advice
• Evaluation and report writing
• Liaising with government departments and industry bodies.
The position will suit a self-motivated person who can work equally within a team or an autonomous environment. To be successful you will have excellent interpersonal skills particularly in your communications with growers, sound writing skills, experience in an on-farm research/advisory role and/or tertiary qualifications in a related field. Knowledge of integrated pest and disease management in orchard environments and on-farm irrigation systems are desirable. Competence in the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
