Invitation to all Young Growers in the GV

Invitation To All Young Growers in the GV

As you would be well aware horticulture is a very demanding business and can take up all of our time trying to do the best we can with the resources we have available to us.  Farming by nature can be an isolated occupation, where you are virtually limited to the boundaries of the property.

It is easy to become entrenched with the day to day operations and you tend to give yourself little opportunity to grow your level of knowledge by interacting more with growers of the same standing. This is why Young Grower Groups are valuable when it comes to connecting with your peers.

The purpose of having the Young Growers Group is to provide a vehicle for growers (both men and women) to interact more with each other in a welcoming environment that accommodates the sharing of both knowledge and experiences of each other’s operations.

All the connections you can make in a young grower group is a great way to prepare yourself for future involvement in the industry, this is just an easy way to get your feet wet first.

Fruit Growers Victoria Ltd. under the HIAL Orchard Action Project wants to continue facilitating this project as it has provided some excellent outcomes in the past, such as tours of other growing regions, sharing of cultural and management practices, forums where issues concerning industry can be addressed and a support network for those that are struggling to cope of which all have a positive influence on growers wanting to engage.

Therefore FGVL is inviting any growers (both members and non-members) or people associated with horticulture (packers, exporters, consultants, etc.) that would like to take this opportunity and join this group to contact the FGV office 03 58253700 to register their details so they can be contacted and included in future events.

To facilitate all of the above a dinner/meeting (Dinner provided, drinks at bar prices) will be held on Tuesday, 6.00pm, 30th of June at the Tatura Hotel, 162 Hogan Street Tatura.

To assist with catering it would be appreciated if growers could register with FGV on 03 5825 3700 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
