Apple and Pear Australia Limited (APAL) are seeking expressions of interest from Australian apple and pear growers to take part in a new program designed to upskill growers to increase industry capacity to maximise tree productivity and profitability.
Participants will travel over 11 days to key European apple and pear growing regions in Italy, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands to learn new skills from leading growers, researchers and advisors in each destination. The likely start date will be Monday, 10 August 2015 commencing in Ferrara, Italy and will finish on Friday, 21 August in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Throughout the course participants will meet with various pome fruit specialists hearing and experiencing the latest in tree structure, tree physiology, tree training, varieties, young tree development, spray drift, mechanisation, pest and diseases and post-harvest.
